Dressing my little lady

The change in seasons is upon us here in Chicago and I have yet again began the struggle of dressing my little lady modestly, with what is available in stores.  I have had a ton of luck shopping online at Land's End and Gymboree, two places I have rarely shopped at prior to this time.  I found dresses for my little lady that were very reasonably priced, and appear to be high quality!  The length of these dresses is actually BELOW the knee, so she will be able to wear cute tights with them instead of leggings.
I will never understand what designers are thinking when they create clothes for little girls and young ladies.  I can't be the only one that sees something inherently wrong with dressing a little girl like a street walker.  Perhaps designers will stop creating inappropriate clothes for girls when consumers stop purchasing inappropriate clothes for their little girls!

  1. That is one of the reasons that I liked that they wore uniforms at my daughters private school. I remember those days trying to find cute but modest clothes and it only became worse as she was a teenager. My daughter is no longer little and is married and out of the nest but whenever i am in a department store I am appalled at the children's clothing section. It has gotten even worse than when my DD was little. I worry about what will be available for any future grandchildren. Good thing I like to sew. :-) Have a great day. Deeny

  2. I personally feel like our girls need to learn how to dress appropriately. It sounds like you are one of those moms that cares a great deal about the message that your daughters clothing sends. Uniforms are great but they do seem to be a bit of a short cut. My girl is 25 and went to public school. It was certainly a challenge and there were plenty of fights! But being on the other side... I wouldn't change a thing. She is in law school now. I'm so proud of her. It was worth it....and heres the best part... she still loves me. :)
    Hang in there!

  3. Tricia,
Boy isn't that the truth!! I love finding vintage clothes for small children they look so sweet and most of the time modest. Thank you for coming by my blog. How great that you will be in Orlando! There are a great many Antique shops around the area. The Orange Tree Antique mall is a great mall. Carol from the Polka Dot Closet blog has a booth there. I have been in that mall lots of times and found many great treasures. I am in the Oviedo Antique Mall in Oviedo. It is just outside of Orlando and you can get there in about 20 to 30 minutes depending on where in Orlando you will be staying. They have Several malls all lined up in the same plaza. So you could make a good 4 to 5 hour day out of it. Depending on what weekend you will be here there is also the Fancy Flea in April. This is held in Lakeland. And it does not disapoint!! It is only twice a year and so much fun. It has been touted as one of the top fleas to see in Romantic Country magazine! (I sound like an advertisement) I get really excited about this stuff. You can also do Mt. Dora!! I love Mt. Dora They have tea rooms and Reningers Flea Market. (World Renowned) If you have any more questions feel free to contact me... I am glad to help you any way I can. P.S. I am your newest follower.

    Blessings,
